Aaaaargh!!!
What’s going on this early in the morning?
I set my favorite music as the alarm tone, but it won’t play!!
Hello, this is NICHI.

The following instructions assume you are subscribed to Apple Music.
Things You Should Check First!!
First, check if your settings look like this:
・The Clock app has your desired song set as the alarm sound
・The song is downloaded to your device
※If it’s not downloaded, it won’t play.
① Open the Alarm screen from the Clock app

② In the alarm edit screen, check that the sound is your desired music

③ Open the Apple Music app and make sure the song is downloaded
※If there’s a check mark like in the image, it’s OK.

Hey! I followed all that, but the alarm still won’t play my music!!
I had the same issue for a while and couldn’t set my favorite song either.
I’ll explain why in the next section!
Why Won’t the Music Play?
C’mon, tell me already!!
・You’ve downloaded the song in Dolby Atmos format
What the heck is that???
Simply put, it’s a sound format that lets you experience 3D-like spatial audio.
It can reproduce things like the sound of a helicopter flying overhead more realistically than conventional formats.
The issue is, this format does not work for alarms!!
That’s a huge problem!!
How to Disable Dolby Atmos
① Open “Music” from the Settings app

② Turn off “Download in Dolby Atmos”

③ Re-download the song from Apple Music
Tap the three-dot menu in the top right and select “Remove”

Select “Remove Download”

Tap the download icon (downward arrow) to download it again

That’s all for the setup!
Now your alarm should be able to play your music!
I wish alarms could support Dolby Atmos someday…
Thank you for reading all the way to the end.
